Chambers of Horror: Nastier Than Ever

As you are well aware, we here at CouchCutter aren’t in the business of bringing you news on just any haunted house. At the moment, we only get behind two amazingly creative and entertaining “haunts”. One because of its scale, the other because of its relentless ferocity.

We are about to explore the latter.

Chambers of Horror is America’s only X-rated, adults-only haunted attraction. A winding, cruel haunt where patrons are assaulted with disembodied genitals and bodily fluids (not to mention more verbal abuse than a trip to your mother-in-law’s). Run by Lucas Godfrey and Rene Arriagada, Chambers sits behind the historic Masquerade concert venue in Atlanta, boasting the only season attraction with a bar in the city.

One could describe it as a live-action “Hostel” porno spoof with more gore. This is hardly a stretch. The Chambers attraction is not for everybody, and according to the owners, many don’t make it past the first scene.

“Yeah, some people just turn right around and say ‘This isn’t for me’.” says Lucas. “But we want that!”

“That’s how we know we’re doing our job.” Rene chimes in.

While both men share the reigns in most regards, Rene handles much of the articulate prop design, ranging from torture devices, weaponry, to suits of armor.

“People that run other haunts (often) ask me where to buy some of this stuff and I’m like… We make it.”

Luke, who works on films as a day job, is also a fixture in the bizarrely active Atlanta horror scene. His extensive knowledge of gore effects and gags make the pair a deadly combination in such an endeavor.

Not to leak spoilers, but one can expect vaginal removal, electrical traps (for the patrons, not the actors in the show), and of course, anal rape with a shotgun. Among other things. As the fine folks at Torture Co evolve and bring the level of horror in a Halloween attraction to a whole new level, the world must decide if it is ready.

After all, it’s a tall order to exceed the expectations of such a jilted generation. Perhaps that’s why Lucas and Rene go so far in the attraction.

Or perhaps, they’re just sick bastards.
