Wow, my third “Seriously!?” article, and it is yet again about a remake. But this time I’m not going to piss and moan about how much I hate what Hollywood is doing in the development process. No, this time, I’m all “Seriously!? That sounds awesome!”
Of course, I hate remakes, so how is this possible? Because I f#*cking love Alex Winter. Most of you know him as Ted from the “Bill & Ted” films. But like me, some of you salivate at this prospect because of his work on “Freaked” and the ill-fated television series, “The Idiot Box”. Alex Winter is so cool, I can’t conceive how this movie can avoid being awesome with him in the driver’s seat.
And after rewatching the original “Gate” film, (which I will be doing at the Plaza Theatre for next month’s Splatter Cinema), this a perfect film for Alex to take on. The guy has a weird, twisted sense of humor and his style is anything but “sexy” (see the latest images from the “Fright Night” remake to see what’s wrong with ‘sexy’). And that’s precisely what this film needs.
Judging by these storyboards, it looks like he will also be staying true to the original:
But before we get too excited, we should keep in mind that this will be in 3-D.
