There is no concrete release date just yet, but from everything we’ve seen and all that Astron-6 member, Adam Brooks has shared with us, this looks to be the best film to come out of Troma in years!

If you keep up with the important news in the world, you will remember this trailer floating around the interwebs and film festivals last year. It is so gruesome that it was booted off of nearly every video site around. But the guys at Astron-6 were cool enough to let us host it. Needless to say, this is seriously NSFW…

Keep in mind that this is not the trailer for the finished film, but the project that inspired the upcoming feature-length slated for released in June. Director and star, Adam Brooks tells us that the Official Trailer should be unleashed on the world next week and that the feature length goes far beyond what is promised in this trailer.

Adam Brooks is back with perhaps the most insightful update from the set of Troma and Astron-6′s “Father’s Day” yet!

The poster was done by The Dude, and we at Astron-6 are all VERY happy with it. He did an amazing job.

The story behind Father’s Day hasn’t been well publicized, but here it is in a nutshell -

We made a fake trailer to a movie that we never intended to make. Troma liked it and offered to produce a feature length version. There has been some confusion as to why we have been releasing teaser trailers and whatnot when the long trailer came out one year ago… The recent teasers are for the actual movie. The movie has most of the stuff from the original trailer, (but not all) and the story IS NOT a simple revenge film that ends with a guy getting beaten with a brick. Take my word for it – Father’s Day is an insane, off the wall, epic adventure movie. i can’t wait for you guys to see it. there is nothing like it out there and i promise it’s not a hobo-wannabe.

Stay tuned for ANOTHER POSTER from another famous, and extremely talented artist. She made my favorite movie poster of all time… That is the only hint for now.

Attached is an EXCLUSIVE photo of me doing a recent fire stunt. It turns out fire is very predictable and safe, and fire stunts are really a breeze. Who knew?

Here is the latest update from Adam Brooks, director and star of “Father’s Day”:

I’ve been editing, and talking to poster artists and musicians. Musicians are like actors – they’re everywhere but so few of them are actually good. As for poster artists, i can’t make any official announcement yet, but I’m confident “Father’s Day” will have a cool as fuck poster.

We still have to shoot all our establishing shots, some inserts and some short exterior scenes. here’s hoping the snow melts soon!

We just finished another hard stretch of shooting which included a lot of practical fx and a lot of greenscreen stuff and we all agree greenscreen work is soul draining.

Lloyd Kaufman flew up to Winnipeg to film a cameo in the film. He was in good spirits and documented almost every moment of his trip for possible inclusion in his next dvd – “Sell Your Own Damn Movie”.

These have been twelve to eighteen hour days and everyone around me has gotten sick. Somehow I remain the only healthy one. The other day we were set up to shoot a big messy practical effect, and Kostanski (Astron-6er/makeup fx artist) had an allergic reaction that sent him to the hospital and shut the shoot down. We rescheduled and finished the throat rip/murder scene last night.

I drove matt to the airport at 5am and he returned to vancouver. Jer left for toronto soon after, and Kostanski will soon follow, leaving Conor and I in Winnipeg. We’ve got our work cut out for us. I have mountains of footage to go through and edit, and Jer has a ton of music and post-production fx to make.

The weather here is god awful, and this city has been hell to make a movie in. As independent, no-budget filmmakers we take shit from the city, the unions, and pretty much anybody else we meet. Having said that, let me say Teasers Burlesque Palace was an exception, and our thank-you list grows every day. Heck, I might as well throw in a thanks here to Leif Norman, Harold Mitchell, Alison Wong, Heather Sims, Kevin Bacon, Ravi Shukla, Bill Brooks, Jay Mcdonald, John Kozak and Guy Maddin.

Check out the latest update from the set of “Father’s Day” from filmmaker, Adam Brooks:

Production is on pause while our single camera is repaired (dead pixel). I also broke our mini jib and one of our two lenses. I have no good excuse. I wish we owned a RED.

As of Friday, Father’s Day has insurance!! That’s right, just like a real movie! Shit, this blog isn’t going to be exciting at all.

I’ve attached a photo of Chris Fuchman’s Truck by Heather Sims, and a drawing I did of myself as Ahab. Note the giant forehead and all around striking good looks which have already been compared to those of Louis C.K. and Paul Giamatti.

It’s getting cold in Winnipeg and there are still exteriors to shoot… once we get the camera back.

As we eagerly anticipate the twisted new Troma and Astron-6 co-production of “Father’s Day”, filmmaker Adam Brooks will be chronicling the project’s progression for us in his own words:

Astron-6ers Matt Kennedy and Jeremy Gillespie were in Winnipeg for a week, so we took the opportunity to shoot as much as possible. I just returned from Kenora where we shot a brief car chase, and some minor stunts. Professional stunt people are prohibitively expensive, and I’ve included a photo of my injuries. Imagine if I weren’t wearing pads!

Winter is approaching fast, and Matt and Jer have left town, so shoots are going to be few and far between for the next while.
I am very happy with all the new footage. It is by far our most professional and cinematic looking stuff.
Now I must heal, and edit.
